I'm kind of surprised that Ted Greene didn't mention Roy Buchanan more. Ted's tone was a bit more George Van Eps and Lenny Breau influenced, but I know that Chet was a big influence... and Roy Buchanan's "lap piano" approach, when he wasn't burning up the fretboard had to have been in there as well.
Could be-- my guess is that Ted was probably aware of all the key Tele guys.
